A man was killed in Hungary because he was gay in last August. The trial of the murder was started yesterday in Debrecen, which is one of the greatest towns in Hungary, in the Eastern part of the country.
The most striking in the story is that there were no any politicians or well known persons in Hungary, who would say anything about this scandal, despite it was evident the homophobic motivation of the murdering. The murder told to the police that he was hate all the gays and that was why he wanted to kill as many gay men, as he could, but two days after the first case, he has been arrested.
Homophobia is a serious problem in Hungary, and that is why it would be very important to declare by politicians that this kind of hate is unacceptable like racism or xenophobia, but none of any political leader spoke about it. Nor from governmental parties neither from the left opposition parties.
It would be provided safe life and legal equity of LGBT people in Hungary if the public sense was change toward a higher level of tolerance, but there are no any signs of it.

Updated: 10. 11. 2013.: The murder was given life in the first phase of judgement on 21.10.2013, and he has to stay in prison at least 30 years. The lawyer appealed for tempering.
